MX Industry Services

Two state-of-the art beamlines are available for proprietary MX data collection, PXI and PXIII. Both beamlines provide fast and reliable robotic sample changing; intuitive data acquisition software; and automated data processing.

  PXI PXIII
Beam size (microns) Variable from 5 x 5  to 100 x 100  90 x 45
Flux at 12.4 keV, 400 mA (ph/s) > 2 x 1012 5 x 1011
Detector Eiger 16M 133Hz Pilatus 2M-F
Suitable for: Micro-crystals
Crystals with large unit cells
MAD and SAD experiments
Phasing experiments, particularly native SAD
Multi-axis data collections

Industrial Access to MX Beamlines

We offer a variety of access modes to the beamlines, providing you with a choice of remote beamline control, automated data collection or a data collection service managed by our experienced MX scientists. For more information on services or beamline capabilities please contact our industrial liaison scientists at mx.industry@psi.ch.

Shift-based Proprietary Access

This access mode is based on full (8-hour) or half (4-hour) shifts, including time for beamline setup and sample loading.

Standard Remote Access

Data collections are performed by the user or by a 3rd party service provider.

Fully Automated Service

Samples are centred using X-ray diffraction and data collections are run automatically based on sample information provided in advance.

Data Collection Service

Data collections are carried out by experienced staff from the MX Group. We offer:

  • Standard cryo-MX data collections
  • Serial crystallography data collection
  • De novo structure determination (heavy atoms, native-SAD, MAD etc)

Time or Sample-based Proprietary Access

Flexible scheduling allowing faster access to beamtime.

Time-based data collection service

Data collection of standard cryo-MX samples by experienced members of the MX Group.

Sample-based, fully automated service

Pricing scheme dependent on the number of samples.
