I'm a soft matter scientist within the laboratory for neutron scattering and imaging (LNS), based at the SANS-I instrument. 

Much of my research consists of understanding the behaviour of soft, colloidal materials. Many of these interests utilise molecular design to manipulate different behaviours, such as the self-assembly of surfactant molecules and the gelation and relaxation of nanoparticles. Understanding how chemical structures influence small but incredibly important interactions has many implications on the soft, squishy materials that we use every day. In particular, building viscoelasticity is critical for cosmetics and personal care, as well as utilisation of cellulose as a renewable and sustainable nanomaterial to modify flow and rheology.
