I received a B.Sc. degree in Theoretical Physics in 2016 from University of Glasgow, UK. Afterwards, in late 2016, I began my four-year enhanced PhD program with the Center for Doctoral training in Intelligent Sensing and Measurement (CDT-ISM) run jointly by Edinburgh and Glasgow Universities. I was based in the Imaging Concepts Group, led by Prof. Andrew R. Harvey. My doctoral research explored applications of a novel computational imaging technique called Fourier Ptychography, where I developed a novel low-cost open-source computational microscope together with a high-speed multi-camera microscope. In addition to optical design, my work relied heavily on ptychographic phase retrieval algorithm and forward model development. Due to industrial initiative of the PhD program, I also worked in ZEISS for 6 months to develop a (now patented) algorithm for a new depth metrology microscopy. Delayed by the COVID-19 pandemic, I received my PhD in 2021 and immediately began my postdoctoral research with Dr. Mirko Holler and the cSAXS group in Swiss Light Source, Paul Scherrer Institut. Currently, I am exploring experimental and computational methods to push the 3D ptychographic tomography resolution limits.

PhD Thesis: Next generation Fourier ptychographic microscopy : computational and experimental techniques

I am leading projects to bridge the resolution gap between X-ray nano-tomography and electron microscopy. This goal requires algorithmic developments of ptychography and tomography to overcome various experimental limitations. I am also leading a project of high-throughput integrated circuit inspection and am involved in other collaborations exploring data-driven X-ray tomography methods. I also fulfil an operation and user support role at the cSAXS beamline.

My research focuses on novel method development to circumvent limitations of various imaging techniques through the use of ptychography and Fourier ptychography. I greatly enjoy developing new reconstruction and calibration algorithms to achieve the best image quality in 2D and 3D imaging. My current goal is to push the limits of ptychographic tomography to achieve the highest resolution in 3D using X-rays. I am also working on data-driven methods to exploit prior information of samples, such as integrated circuits.
