Career options for academic staff (usually after a post doctorate)
In terms of career options, PSI distinguish between tenure track positions and project positions. Both paths have a fixed-term maximum employment period of five years each. The fixed-term contract is usually concluded for three years with the possibility of extension for a further two years. Tenure track positions at PSI are linked to long-term research programmes or scientific service tasks and include the prospect of a permanent position (not a professorship) after the probationary period.
