One of our radiotherapists guides the patient onto the treatment bed and fixes their body with different immobilisation devices depending on the treatment area: thermoplastic mask, moulages, bite block, knee rest.
To aid treatment delivery visualisation, Manny (our blue mannequin patient) only has a knee rest. His brain tumor treatment would typically also require a thermoplastic mask, as displayed on the left.
Drag the image to rotateManny's body may be slightly shifted to how it was positioned during the initial planning CT scan. Therefore, every day new images are taken and matched to the planning CT. The match calculates correction adjustments that are applied to the treatment couch. Once the corrections are applied, Manny undergoes the proton therapy treatment.
