Current Responsibilities

Anna Kalinina started her PhD in the Technology Assessment group at the Paul Scherrer Institut (PSI) in May 2015. She is supervised by Dr. Christopher Robinson, Associate Professor of the Swiss Federal Institute of Aquatic Science and Technology (EAWAG) and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich (ETHZ). The topic of her study is related to the risk assessment for hydropower in Switzerland with focus on dam failures. The study will be completed as a part of the National Research Programme "Energy Turnaround" (NRP 70) within the project "Supply of electricity for 2050: hydropower and geo-energies", which is in close connection with the activities of the Swiss Competence Centre for Energy Research - Supply of Electricity.

Education and previous activities

Anna graduated from ETH Zürich in February 2015 with the M.Sc. degree in Environmental Engineering. Her thesis, which she completed at the Empa research Institute, focused on the risk posed by nano silica to the human health and the environment. Within her master programme Anna completed the six month internship in the Technology Assessment group at the PSI estimating the risk related to oil spills worldwide. Before the Master programme, Anna worked as building service systems designer at the Russian branch of the Royal Imtech N.V.. Anna earned a B.Sc. in Engineering from the Saint-Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering, Russia in 2011.
