PSI-SwissFEL signs MoU with STFC on the 29th of November 2011.

With their signature, representatives of the PSI and the STFC, today, formalized the cooperation between the SwissFEL and STFC. The main focus will be on the establishment of a collaborative research effort to enable the exploitation and expansion of the scientific capabilities of the future SwissFEL project at PSI.

SwissFEL is proposed to be constructed at PSI in the period 2013-2016, pursuing its strategy - as with the synchrotron Swiss Light Source, SLS - of making the technology of large X-ray light facilities accessible for a national and international user community of research groups from both universities and industry at a national site. Both the PSI and the STFC have a keen interest in the development of new scientific applications, making full usage of the high brilliance and repetition rate of new light sources, and in the development of state-of-the-art instrumentation to enhance the potential results of their scientific exploitation. It appears beneficial to both Parties to collaborate towards the achievement of their common goals.
