Biography

Abhishek Nag is a postdoctoral researcher in the Laboratory for Nonlinear Optics at PSI. He did his PhD under the supervision of Prof. Sugata Ray at Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, India. His thesis focused on the study of materials with strong spin-orbit coupling. In 2017 he moved to the United Kingdom where he did his first post-doctorate with Dr. Ke-Jin Zhou at Diamond Light Source. His projects there focussed on the study of charge and magnetic excitations using soft x-ray resonant inelastic x-ray scattering. As of August 2021, he is a member of the pump laser group under the supervision of Prof. Steven Johnson at PSI as a PSI-FELLOW-III-3i (EU Grant Agreement No 884104).

Scientific Research

Abhishek's research is directed towards the exploration of ultrafast magnetisation dynamics in multiferroic materials. The main focus of his project is to understand the mechanism of ultrafast optical switching of magnetisation in these materials using a combination of time-resolved optical and x-ray spectroscopy techniques.
