Karol Nass obtained his PhD from the University of Hamburg, Germany. During his studies, he was working at the Center for Free-Electron Science (CFEL) in Hamburg on developing the field of serial femtosecond crystallography (SFX) at X-ray free-electron lasers (XFELs). He completed his post-doctoral appointment at the Max-Planck Institute for Medical Research in Heidelberg, Germany. Shortly after that he moved to the Paul Scherrer Institue where he is currently an instrument scientist at the Alvra end station at SwissFEL.
