The International X-ray Absorption Society (IXAS) has honoured two early-career PSI researchers with its prestigious young scientist awards. Adam Clark, beamline scientist at the Debye beamline of SLS, receives the Farrel Lytle Prize for his contributions to QEXAFS instrumentation, the development of synchrotron beamlines, and high-throughput data analysis software. Aram Bugaev, group leader of the SynFlow group, receives the Dale Sayers Prize for advancing the field of operando XAS in catalysis, including the development of microfluidic reactors and the implementation of machine learning approaches.
The awards were announced at the closing ceremony of the 19th International Conference on X-ray Absorption Fine Structure (XAFS2026) in Chiang Mai, Thailand. The conference is the major event taking place every 2-3 years and bringing together the leading researchers in the field of X-ray spectroscopy.
