On May 7, 2026, the annual PhD Day of the Center for Nuclear Engineering and Sciences (NES) took place at Paul Scherrer Institut (PSI). A total of 34 doctoral students presented their research activities in the fields of nuclear technology and energy systems.
Following the poster session and the evaluation by the expert jury, two participants per category qualified for a short oral presentation in front of the audience and jury. The event was sponsored by Nuclear Forum Switzerland, which supported the prizes for the best presentations.
We are particularly proud that two of the award winners are students from the Laboratory of Radiochemistry (LRC):
Sofia Pasolini, winner in the Midway Research Phase category
Sebastian Siegrist, winner in the Newly Started category
In addition, we are pleased that other LRC students were also selected among the finalists:
Balázs Marius, finalist in the Newly Started category
Elizaveta Artiushova, finalist in the Midway Research Phase category
These results highlight the excellent work and strong commitment of our students across different stages of their PhD journey.
We congratulate all award winners and finalists for their outstanding contributions and thank Professor Andreas Pautz and the jury for their commitment to supporting young researchers.
The NES PhD Day once again demonstrated the high level of innovation, dedication, and scientific quality of the next generation of researchers helping to shape the future of nuclear science and energy technologies. 👏
