As part of the summer program at the Nanolino daycare center, we got to visit the chemistry lab!
The Paul Scherrer Institute is dedicated to research across a wide range of fields and it is exactly this diversity that we aim to share with the children again and again. Our goal is to give them a glimpse into this innovative research environment, to show them who works on campus and above all, what they do there.
The visit to the chemistry labs was full of excitement. Before entering, the children first had to put on safety goggles and lab coats, just like real researchers. Accompanied by the experts, they explored the lab, asked curious questions and discovered a variety of fascinating devices and materials.
Once all their questions had been answered, it was time for the experiments. The children were introduced to different chemical elements and observed how they react when combined. Colorful reactions, intriguing materials, and child-friendly explanations turned the morning into a truly memorable experience.
What made the experience especially valuable was the opportunity for the children to actively participate. They were able to try things out themselves, contribute their own ideas and engage with the experiments firsthand. What started as a simple visit quickly turned into a genuine journey of discovery.
