Dr. Abdullah Kahraman
Postdoc researcher at Alvra group
5232 Villigen PSI
Abdullah received his MSc in Physics from Bilkent University, Ankara in 2015 where he worked on nanofabrication and characterization of high-power-laser-diodes employed by the quantum-well-intermixing method to suppress catastrophic optical mirror damage (https://doi.org/10.1088/0268-1242/31/8/085013). Then, he received his PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from Koc University, Istanbul in 2020. His PhD focuses on better understanding of the charge carrier recombination dynamics of BiVO4 (https://doi.org/10.1021/acs.jpcc.9b07391) and the charge transfer between BiVO4 and water to exploit complex water oxidation reactions for photoelectrochemical systems (https://doi.org/10.1021/acs.jpclett.0c02190). He mainly utilized ultrafast transient absorption spectroscopy and photoelectrochemical experiments as well as core-level spectroscopy (XPS and XAS) at SLAC-SSRL in his PhD research. He moved PSI as a postdoc researcher to investigate structural and electronic dynamics of metal-oxide complexes, in 2020.
