Congratulations! Corinna Burri's doctoral thesis entitled "Imaging and control of van der Waals layer stacking in 1T-TaS2 cryomemory devices" has been awarded the PSI Thesis Medal 2026.
Corinna's doctoral work is highly original as it represents the first in operando study of van der Waals devices making use of the micron beam sizes available at accelerator-based photon sources, such as the SLS or SwissFEL. The implications of the doctoral work are wide and range from shedding light on the fundamental processes underlying non-equilibrium physics to improving the design of phase-change memory devices.
It was a pleasure having Corinna in the QPS group, and we wish her the best of luck for her future endeavors.
