Justin Tabbett has been awarded the 2025 Patricia Tomkins Thesis Prize by the Royal Astronomical Society for his Thesis ‘Characterisation, Development and Deployment of a Balloon-borne Radioactivity Detector’. The prize is awarded annually for the best doctoral thesis in instrumentation science for astronomy or geophysics, within the UK. Justin is now working on the AMORE project – Airspace Measurement of Radiation Environment – within the Detectors, Irradiation and applied Particle Physics group of the Laboratory for Particle Physics.
