On July 21, 11 members of the ISIS Muon Group and 12 of the PSI Laboratory for Muon Spin Spectroscopy met at PSI for a collaboration meeting, during which the status of both muon facilities were discussed, followed by extensive discussions on future opportunities for collaboration.
Several areas for closer cooperation have been identified, such as data analysis software for positive and negative muons, use of web-based platforms such as AiiDAlab for DFT and other applications, particle tracking detectors, sample environment, but also outreach activities such as e-learning tools, training schools, and increasing the visibility of the muon community.
It was agreed that this form of collaboration through annual face-to-face meetings will b continued, so that greater use of mutual synergies in future can be made. Online meetings with smaller groups on specific topics are also to be held.
The next face-to-face meeting is scheduled to take place at ISIS as part of the symposium marking the 40th anniversary of the ISIS Muon Facility in March 2027.
