Efficient Technologies and Systems for Mobility (SCCER Mobility) - Phase 2

The Technology Assessment group is part of the Capacity Area B2 that aims to provide the state-of-the-art integrated assessment of the future Swiss mobility system with consideration of a variety of sustainability criteria including as a subset those defined as the primary goals for the Swiss energy transformation. Such a broad assessment requires a detailed evaluation of future technology options for individual mobility, public transport and transport of goods with explicit accounting for the prospective technology advancements. The results of the technology assessments form the essential input to model future mobility scenarios within the framework of the overall mobility system as a part of the Swiss energy system. This will allow addressing the impact of uncertainties related to future mobility demand, policies, technology development, costs etc. and assessing the scenario-specific implications for the environment and economy. The modelling and applications will be carried out on national and regional levels. In parallel, the socio-economic system transformation in mobility will be analysed providing impulses for regulation, monitoring and if necessary readjustments. This knowledge should help policy-makers to define targeted policy instruments and businesses to develop enhanced product offerings and marketing strategies.
