Biography

Wenliang Zhang is currently a postdoctoral fellow at Paul Scherrer Institute (PSI) starting in October of 2018. He got his Ph.D. in physical science in 2018 from Institute of Physics (IOP), Chinese Academy of Science on "Antiferromagnetism, nematicity, and their quantum criticality in iron pnictides".  During the time as a Ph.D. candidate, Wenliang Zhang's research work mainly focused on the neutron scattering and transport study on iron-based superconductors, and he also participated in the construction and commissioning of the Bamboo thermal neutron triple-axis spectrometer at China Advanced Research Reactor (CARR).

Institutional Responsibilities

Conducting research on correlated materials especially cuprates and iron-based superconductors using Resonant Inelastic X-ray Scattering (RIXS) techniques. Support the external user research on RIXS spectrometer at ADRESS beamline.

Scientific Research

Wenliang Zhang's current research mainly focuses on the collective dynamics of spin, charge, and lattice degrees of freedom in correlated-electron systems such as cuprates and iron-pnictides, and their interplay with the exotic orders emerged in these correlated materials like unconventional superconductivity and nematicity. The main technique used is the momentum resolved soft X-ray RIXS, which is powerful in probing the dynamics of various degrees of freedom,  and is available at ADRESS beamline at SLS.
