Justyna Aleksandra Wojdyla received her master degree in Biochemistry from the Jagiellonian University, Poland in July 2006. In 2010 she completed her PhD at the EMBL Hamburg, Germany on a structural characterization of the domains of non-structural protein 3 from Coronaviruses under supervision of Dr. Paul Tucker. She received the PhD from the University of Heidelberg, Germany with Prof. Irmgard Sinning and Dr. Christoph Mueller as thesis referees. In 2010 she moved to the University of York, United Kingdom to work as a joint postdoctoral research associate at the Department of Biology (Prof. Colin Kleanthous) and York Structural Biology Laboratory (Prof. Marek Brzozowski). In 2012 she relocated to the Department of Biochemistry at the University of Oxford, United Kingdom to continue her postdoctoral research in the group of Prof. Colin Kleanthous. In 2014 she joined the Macromolecular Crystallography (MX) group as a beamline scientist responsible for the beamline X06DA. Since 2020 she has been the Group Leader of the MX Data group.

Justyna leads the MX Data group, a subsection of the MX group responsible for data acquisition and processing software serving all three MX beamlines at the Swiss Light Source (SLS). Together with Dr. Vincent Olieric she is also co-responsible for the operation of the MX SLS beamline X06DA. Moreover, she shares responsibility for the Fast Fragment and Compound Screening (FFCS) pipeline together with Dr. May Sharpe. Justyna’s scientific interests include software development, particularly the automation of data acquisition and analysis; fragment screening using X-ray crystallography, protein crystallography and instrumentation of synchrotron beamlines.
