Beamline Status

Resource Status Description
Status optics and monochromator OK The beamline features a double-crystal fixed-exit monochromator for X-rays in the range from 6 to 17 keV. Vertical focussing is achieved by a dynamically bendable mirror. The beam is stabilized with a feedback system.
Status sample and environment OK The focussed beam size on the sample is 85 μm by 10 μm at the High-Resolution Diffractometer (HRD) focus, it is 25 (10) μm by 5 μm at the Microdiffractometer (MD2) focus. Liquid nitrogen (100 K) or room temperature measurements possible.
Status endstations and detectors OK Pilatus 6M, Ketek Fluorescence detector at the HR station; Mar225 CCD and MD2 Ketek Fluorescence detector at the MD2 station.
Status sample changer CATS OK Sample changer at HRD in operation, please refer to the CATS page.
Status analysis tools OK XDS, MOSFLM, automatic data reduction: go.com
Status operation OK User operation, see the schedule
Legend OK PROBLEMS ERROR

Current Status

  • Two new KETEK/XIA detector combinations available for fluorescence scans at HRD and MD2
  • CATS operational at the HRD; no sample changer at the MD2

News

May 2011

  • Pilatus 6M upgraded to 25 MHz operation. Minimum exposure time now 0.04 s.

Older news

October/November 2010

  • New sample table to position sample using SmarAct devices. This new goniometer head is faster and more precise.
  • XRF Detector at the high-resolution diffractometer is now a Vortex detector controlled by the same application as in beamlines X06DA and X10SA.

September 2010

  • The X06SA beamline has a new set of computing nodes which have replaced the previous cluster
    • the new cluster consists of 4 blades each with 12 cores (6 real and 6 virtual) and 24 GB of RAM
  • the storage has also been upgraded with a much faster backend and it has also been consolidated together with the storage at beamline X10SA
  • the X-terminals at the beamline have been replaced by normal computers which will provide a much better performance when running graphical applications such as Coot, Pymol etc.
    • NOTE as a side effect, the user must ssh to the computing nodes in order to get access to the parallel processing capabilities of XDS or go.com

August 2010

  • CATS sample changer system in operation on advance request.
    • Please inform your local contact if you want to use it. Currently only MD caps and vials can be supported.
  • New versions of clara and peter installed.
  • New software available , e.g., Il Milione
  • Check out the xtallography information platforms, the CCP4 user community wiki and the XDS wiki
  • List of earlier changes & updates
