The Paul Scherrer Institute is with 1300 employees the largest research centre for the natural and engineering sciences in Switzerland and a worldwide leading user laboratory. Its research activities are concentrated on the three main topics of solid-state physics, energy and environmental research as well as human health.

The Electrochemistry Laboratory is part of the General Energy Research Department. It is dedicated to modern aspects of electrochemical energy conversion and storage, especially in conjunction with sustainable mobility. Within the Fuel Cells group we are developing materials and innovative diagnostic tools for the Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cell (PEFC).

We are looking for a

PhD Student

Local Degradation Phenomena in High Temperature Polymer Electrolyte Fuel Cells (HT-PEFC)

Your tasks

• Development of local diagnostic tools for HT-PEFCs
  
• Investigation of degradation phenomena on different length scales
  
• Interpretation and presentation of results
  
• Carry out a PhD thesis on the above mentioned topics

Your profile

You have a diploma in chemistry, chemical engineering or physics. You have active interest in experimental work and you enjoy working in an interdisciplinary team spirit. Interest in modeling work would be an asset. A good command of written and oral English is required.
