PSI Annual Reports 2008

It is hardly possible to present the whole research at an institute as large as the Paul Scherrer Institute within one booklet. Still, we hope that PSI’s two annual reports can provide a good overview of the institute’s research in 2008 by presenting results from all research departments. The interaction between superconductivity and magnetism, the production of methane from wet biomass or latest developments in proton therapy are among the topics covered. In both reports, a whole chapter is devoted to PSI’s latest large scale facility project – the PSI-XFEL (SwissFEL).

2008		The Annual Report published in German is aimed at the general public. Various research topics are presented in feature articles describing not only the scientific result but also introducing the people behind the science.

2008		The Scientific Report written in English is intended for an audience with a background in natural sciences. It contains several articles on activities from each of PSI’s scientific departments.
