Major Research Topics

  • Characterisation of soot nanoparticles in the present atmosphere as well as in historic ice core records using a Single Particle Soot Photometer (SP2). (SONATA project)
  • CLoud and Aerosol Characterisation Experiments (CLACE) at the high-alpine research station to investigate aerosol-cloud interactions with a particular focus on soot particles. (CLACE and GAW projects)
  • Measurement of hygroscopic properties, cloud condensation nuclei (CCN) properties and CCN number concentrations of laboratory-generated and atmospheric aerosols.
  • Closure studies between chemical composition, hygroscopic properties and CCN activity of aerosol particles.
