PSI as transfer partner

PSI scientists are active in a broad spectrum of research, including the development and operation of large complex research facilities. Within these activities, they work on the one hand on projects which involve basic scientific principles, and on the other hand, on projects in application-oriented issues. To an idea of the broad scope of interest at PSI, we have listed a few areas below, which are of interest to the industrial R&D. Use the search function and appropriate keywords on our home page to find possible research activities at PSI.

  • Non-destructive testing of components and materials
  • Structural analysis and characterisation of materials
  • Surface analysis
  • Imaging (radiography and tomography) with different absorptions characteristics
  • Electronic components for measurement and control
  • Electrochemical processes for energy conversion and storage
  • Micro and nanotechnological processes
  • Energy technologies

PSI strives to make the knowledge generated accessible and encourages its exploitation. There are three basic models conceivable in terms of cooperation with the Paul Scherrer Institute:

  • Licensing and transfer of technologies and know-how
  • Utilisation of research facilities and know-how as R&D services
  • Implementation of either research cooperation projects or contract research projects

The technology transfer office is the link between interested companies and researchers. It is the first point of contact and opens the door for industrial partners to research at PSI. Within PSI it supports the parties involved in contractual and administrative matters, and manages the intellectual property rights. If necessary, the technology transfer office advises and supports scientists in commercially exploiting their inventions and results in spin-off companies.

Please contact the team at the technology transfer office for information and advice.
